Decadent Dieter

WEEK 3 - ATKINS PHASE 2, OWL
175 lbs

DAY 21

Sunday, 06.12.2011

I received the suggestion to add flax seed to help "the ol' pipes flush," and after a trip to a large grocery store, a small grocery store, the internet, and then a Trader Joe's, I picked up a bag.  They are good on celery with natural peanut butter, and I plan to abuse their power.  Decadence.

BREAKFAST: tuna salad
LUNCH: celery with natural peanut butter and flax seed
DINNER: cheeseburger (no bun) with onion; salad

DAY 20

Saturday, 06.11.2011

My husband waited to get me a fancy graduation gift until I found something I was really excited about.  I have and its ordered!  BEHOLD, a KitchenAid mixer:

I can't wait to attack some cream cheese and butter with this teal baby.  It has 3 attachments, 10 speeds, a 5 quart stainless steel bowl, and I'm pretty sure it can make the kessel run in 12 parsecs.

LUNCH: burger (no bun) with swiss, mushrooms, avocado, and red onion; side salad
DINNER: large salad with chicken, avocado, tomato, green onion, and avocado ranch dressing
DESSERT: cheesecake with blueberry topping

DAY 19

Friday, 06.10.2011

I have discovered the nectar of the gods, and for once I'm not referring to Mt. Dew.  No, the ambrosia that I am writing of is what the laymen refer to as "blueberry topping."  Courtesy of someone's mother-in-law, here is the recipe that will change your life:

(I used 1/3 of the measurements and it yielded plenty; and, of course, I substituted the sugar with Splenda, Amen).

You get to use a potato masher and you separate liquids from solids; and you grate; you juice; you simmer; you boil; its a lot of fun to make.  And its easy!  I put it on top of my latest cheese cake and also mixed it with diet 7UP and a couple of sprigs of mint for a great summer drink.  My husband is going to add it to his homemade honey-based power gel (for running).

Splenda seas of love
parted to reveal the truth:
blueberry topping

BRUNCH: mushroom and cheddar omelette
DINNER: tuna salad; cantelope and stawberries; celery with peanut butter
DESSERT: cheesecake with blueberry topping

DAY 18

Thursday, 06.09.2011

Dinner was a bit of a bust today.  I tried to recreate a glorious crab salad (more like a dip) I had once in Portland, OR, but no dice - I sort of made up some nonsense, yuck.  Tomorrow I'm going to make another cheesecake, but this time I'll add a blueberry topping (with Splenda).

BRUNCH: chicken salad
DINNER: BLT with avocado wrapped in a lettuce; crab salad on an endive
DESSERT: cream cheese cloud

DAY 17

Wednesday, 06.08.2011

Another decadent day for The Decadent Dieter and friends.  Best buds and I had a day of indulgences - brunch, shopping, herbal foot soaking, face masks, trashy magazines, and ostentatious nail polishes.  Read and reread that list and think about how wonderful it is to treat one's self and ignore the the rest of this sentence which confesses that I may or may not have indulged in a skinny cow treat officially or unofficially associated with the Atkins list of acceptable foods.

BREAKFAST: bacon and swiss quiche (no crust) with a green salad and a slice of cantaloupe
LUNCH: the aforementioned divergent
DINNER: chicken salad
DESSERT: cream cheese cloud

DAY 16

Tuesday, 06.07.2011

It's too hot to exercise, or think about exercising, or point and laugh at a man using a shake weight.  Well, maybe if I don't point...

...I need a nap.
BREAKFAST: bacon and eggs
DINNER: chicken salad

DAY 15

Monday, 06.06.2011

I'm beginning to like Mondays; I lost a total of 5 pounds on induction!  Now on to Ordinary Wizarding Level exams (see DAY 14) .  I will try to interject more chicken and fish this week and less red meat and cheese, so I can reintroduce myself into the cycle of life and poo.

Last night we had shrimp with melted garlic butter for dipping.  Very yummy.  Oh course, every time the word "shrimp" is said, I can't help but think of Tiffany from America's Next Top Model, who once complained "Why I gotta be the scrimp," when she was choosen to be the Cancer crab for the zodiac shoot.

Why, indeed.

BRUNCH: eggs and a side of avocado
DINNER: smoked salmon rolled with a mixture of softened cream cheese, green onion, and dill
DESSERT: cream cheese clouds
